Avalanche terrain information

The map layers for avalanche terrain depict avalanche situations in which small to large (size class 3), but not very large, avalanches are to be expected. Terrain in forests classified as 'dense' is not included, and the dynamics of wet-snow or sliding avalanches are also not taken into account.
Automatic crux detection is based on the avalanche terrain maps. Winter sport participants are alerted to typical cruxes, but not to all sections where an avalanche could potentially occur. A route may still be at risk from avalanches even if there is no automatic crux alert.
